A Kindergarten Smorgasboard of Valentine's Day!

It's V Day.  Did you survive?  Were your kids CRAZY?!  Did  you get tons of hugs?  I don't like this holiday at all but I love seeing my monsters express so much love!  But boy am I glad it's over.  My feet hurt.  My stomach hurts from the 60 cupcakes that we had.  People, literally 60 cupcakes.  We still have cupcakes and cookies for tomorrow!  Now, I hope the monsters return to normal tomorrow! Um, Ok sure.  That will happen!

We started our V day with some writing!  We made a bubble map during our morning meeting!  I love that a monster said it was a "special day!"  Also during our morning meeting we did a super fun greeting!  It was shared by our reading specialist!  Each student said this:

"Roses are red, violets are blue.  I love.......  Do you, (insert student name!)"

So, when it was my turn, it went like this:

"Roses are red, violets are blue.  I love glitter.  Do you, Oprah?"  Then "Oprah" would say the poem and so on!  The monsters loved it!  I think we will be doing this greeting more!

Of course, we have to meet those common core standards, even on a special, chocolaty day!  So we sorted and graphed our candy hearts!  Then we analyzed the data.  We learned that the orange hearts were the ones that we had the least of!  Why do the candy heart makers hate the orange?!  And then of course, we ate the hearts!  One monsters spit out the white one and said, "eeeew it's minty!"

After some writing and common core fun, the kindergarten smorgasboard went into party mode!

No celebration at the kindergarten smorgasboard is complete without a silly hat!  Today we made love bug hats!

We created the perfect Valentine bags for our special deliveries!

And of course we overdosed on sugar!

Here is my gift to the monsters.  A cup with a pen and pencil, a candy necklace and socks!  Socks!  True story.  They knock my socks off everyday!  So I gave them socks!  The parents LOVED LOVED LOVED the idea!  I must give credit to my friend Kathleen at Growing Kinders for this super adorable idea!!

And of course, for all of my loyal friends and followers, Mr.Greg is sporting his love bug hat!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!

And finally, a big announcement from the Kindergarten Smorgasboard!

Butters, The CEO of The Kindergarten Smorgasboard is pleased to announce a new headquarters for the Kindergarten Smorgasboard!  We made an offer and it was accepted!  We should close on March 25th!!!!!
